In a Nutshell:

  • PM Tarique launched "Green School" tree plantation programme today
  • At the same time, HSC students blocked roads in Uttara over exam decisions
  • Students firmly demand education minister's resignation

Why it Matters

The government's environmental push lands the same day HSC students are demanding the education minister's resignation over exams held during floods. One arm of the government promotes long term environmental planning for young children, while another faces open student anger over how it is handling an active crisis for older students. The contrast highlights a gap between the government's messaging and what a section of students say they are experiencing right now.

What We Think

Launching a five year tree planting campaign while students suffer through poor exam planning is bad timing optically. It puts the government in the position of celebrating long term green goals on the same day it is visibly failing to resolve an urgent student crisis. For a government trying to look responsive, that contrast does the opposite.
