Jamaat condemns attack on NCP leaders and Habiganj incident after 24 hours

Why it Matters
Jamaat's condemnation comes 24 hours after at least 10 NCP leaders, activists, journalists, including Nasiruddin Patwary and Sarjis, were left injured badly in the aftermath of the Chatra Dal attack on their convoy following the July march programme. Yesterday, there was speculation of several NCP members reconsidering the alliance over the lack of response from Jamaat. While senior officials such as NCP's Media Secretary Yasir Arafat put the speculation to bed by saying there were no such formal discussions, the Habiganj attack has tested the alliance.
